Hardy SINTRIX fly fishing rods are the best rods Hardy has ever produced. They are beautifully balanced, lightweight with crisp, clean actions that provide both superb casting and fish playing characteristics. They are also phenomenally strong thanks to the revolutionary nature of our new SINTRIX material.
SINTRIX is
the trade-marked brand name for Hardy & Greys new composite rod material.
The material was initially developed by 3M in the USA for the aerospace
industry.
3M has only awarded four fishing tackle companies licences to use its base silica nano matrix material. Hardy & Greys Ltd. Is the only UK brand with a licence. The specific mix of material used for SINTRIX is exclusive, and therefore unique, to Hardy & Greys Ltd.
The Material is carbon fibre held together with a resin impregnated with silica nano spheres. This technology is brand new and produces a material that is significantly stronger and potentially lighter than traditional carbon fibre.
There are two key advantages provided by silica nano spheres. First is the even distribution of the nano spheres throughout the resin providing equality of strength throughout the blank leading to crisp and clean rod actions. The second advantage is that silica nano spheres resist compression forces better than any other known material. This results in a fishing rod that is at least 60% stronger than a standard carbon fibre rod without interfering with the action. The improved compression characteristic also greatly improves impact resistance and durability.
The New Sintrix material allows Hardy to create rods that are 30% lighter and 60% stronger than conventional rods. What this means to you as the fly fisherman, is that these are rods have less weight, create more power and allow lines to be cast further with less effort. If you are looking for performance oriented tackle, this is one of the most advanced rods ever created. The Sintrix rods are also nearly impossible to break (under normal casting situations, catching any rod in car doors or stepping on tips will almost always break any rod ). These rods have also won rave reviews the world around!
There are 2 models of Sintrix Rods. The Zenith Rods are the freshwater models and the Proaxis are the saltwater rods. Some of the Proaxis models can be used for freshwater fishing and chasing big game fish like steelhead, salmon, pike as well as saltwater favorites like stripers, bonefish and tarpon.

The Zenith Rods are made using a top of the line Fuji and REC recoil guides. The seat is a new skeletal design created by Hardy. The grips are made of the finest Portugese cork and the Proaxis Rod comes with a brass cap metal tube , Hardy rod sock and the famous Hardy rod female sleeve inserts. Quite simply, this is one of the finest rods ever made, using world class manufacturing processes and products. Each Sintrix has a lifetime warranty and all rod repairs are serviced from Hardy's North American facility in Lancaster, Pa.

The Proaxis Rods are the saltwater models of the Sintrix line. The Proaxis models are made using the same Nano graphite as found in the Zneith models. The testing and developement team that created these rods included Andy Mill and some of the world's finest saltwater anglers and guides. The rods were tested under extreme conditions and caught large numbers of tarpon, snook and other tough fighting saltwater game fish. Under these conditions, large numbers of big fish were caught without any rod failures. The resulting designs have an incredible strength to weight ratio and are high performance, fast action rods. Made using the finest components, and the new Hardy reel seat design, this rod is one of the best saltwater rods ever created. Whether you are a saltwater angler or a freshwater angler chasing big game fish and in need of performance tackle, these rods are it!
